Top ten African destinations. Which are the most visited countries in Africa? According to the tourist most visited countries in Africa as selected by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Egypt is Africa’s number one destination for international tourists. Tourism continues to be a big trend for Africa, however, when people think of the Africa, they often think of safari and wildlife holidays. Thanks to its natural charms (savannahs, equatorial mountains, national parks and wildlife) and desirable warm temperatures all year round. Next up on the list of the most visited countries, Ivory Coast, also known as Côte d’Ivoire, is one of the most visited places in West Africa. With a French-colonial legacy, warm temperatures, sea and sun abound, it remains a popular destination among French speaking travellers. Most tourists make their way to Ivory Coast’s wealth of beach resorts and palm-tree forests.

It is probably one of the most beautiful countries in the world and certainly one of the best destinations in Africa. With its coastline riches of turquoise waters and beautiful beaches, Mozambique remains a hotspot for African tourists. Must-see in Zimbabwe, from World Heritage–listed archaeological sites to the Hwange National Park, where you can spot the Big Five. If you’re looking for stunning and dramatic scenery, explore the world’s largest waterfalls –  Victoria Falls (Mosi-oa Tunya), one of the natural wonders of the world.

Cities such as Algiers and Constantine boast an urban and modern charm mixed with traditional, Islamic and historical colonial architectures. Third on the list is, South Africa, with 10.2 million visitors in 2019, the most popular destination of choice for a safari-goers. Adventurous travellers seek out the Kruger National Park, where you can see Africa’s most iconic wildlife, the big five game animals – elephant, lion, rhino, leopard and buffalo.
